Your eyes might water and your nose may run as mucous begins to loosen and inflammation begins to reduce. The pleasant plant menthol herbal aroma is completely gone in 15 minutes… time it and see for yourself.
Headaches: Many customers find stress or sinus headache relief by rubbing gel across forehead, temples, on cheekbones avoiding eye area, and then at base of neck. The same cupping of hands and deep breaths are very effective.
Joint and Muscular Discomfort and Arthritis: I’ve even had customers with joint issues in a toe or knee or elbow find relief by rubbing it all around the affected area front, sides, and back. This includes sports injuries, sprains, strained muscles, shin splints, and neck stiffness. Many customers find they can use this first before over the counter analgesics. Reapply as needed.
Menstrual Cramps: Rub gel pelvic bone to pelvic bone and stomach area. A heating pad can be set on low and safely used. Cover area with layer of clothing or cloth.
Minor Skin Rashes and Minor Insect Bites or Minor Sunburn: Customers love the cooling effect and reducing the sting or itch or heat from sunburn factor. Rub as soon as possible over entire affected area. Repeat as needed. If condition persists or worsens, seek medical assistance. NOTE: If the person has scratched the area and broken the skin, there maybe a minor stinging lasting only 10 seconds as the alcohol cools the skin and is the carrier of the ingredients.
Leg or Muscle Cramping or a Charlie Horse or toe/foot cramping: Immediately generously apply on entire cramping muscle area and walk around the room. Reapply as needed.
1. Isopropyl alcohol
It has many benefits and is widely used in the pharmaceutical world in products. According to the Columbia Online Encyclopedia, alcohol is an effective liniment because it acts as a minor irritant to the skin increasing circulation and blood flow to the area. This increased circulation helps to ease pain and inflammation. It is an astringent which is a substance that can shrink or tighten your body tissues and also help to stop bleeding in minor cuts and scrapes by tightening up the capillaries that are losing blood. Many successfully use alcohol for an anti-fungal with its anti-bacterial properties, helping heal sore muscles and even aid sunburns. It cools the skin and disinfects.
2. Denatured Alcohol
Ethanol can be used as an extraction solvent in herbal medicinal products (liquid extracts and tinctures). Thus, it is necessary for extraction of some constituents that are important for efficacy. Ethanol is also used in the production of mother tinctures for homeopathic preparations in suitable concentration and in many liquid homeopathic medicinal products.
3. Water (deionized)
Deionized water is water that does not contain any impurity ions. In fact, it is perfectly cleaned water. It is produced by the chemical purification of the artesian water from salts, metals, trace elements and micro-particles using special ion exchange equipment. It is also used in microelectronics, for the dissolution of drugs in medicine.
Menthol is effectively used as a pain reliever. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties historically used. It is effective against bacilli, streph, staph, candida, and salmonella. Many believe it helps as an antispasmodic gastrosedative, carminiative, choleteric, addresses bad breath, and myorelaxant properties. It serves and an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, a decongestant, expectorant, and bronchomucolitic.
5. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)
MSM is a sulfur found in green plants such as Equisetum arvense, certain algae, fruits, vegetables, and grains. It is found in animals and humans. It is used by the body to maintain normal connective tissues. MSM has also exhibited possible anti-inflammatory, anti-atherosclerotic, and chemo-preventative activities along with free radical scavenger. MSM has been reported to alleviate allergies, arthritis, GI upset, musculoskeletal pain, and to boost the immune system. It also possesses antimicrobial properties.
Camphor products can be rubbed on the skin (topical application only) or fumes in cupped hands over nose inhaled aiding in congestion. Camphor is used topically to increase local blood flow and as a “counterirritant,” which helps reduce pain and swelling. Camphor seems to stimulate nerve endings that relieve symptoms such as pain and itching when applied to the skin. Camphor is also an active agent successfully used by many against fungi that cause infections in the toenails.
7. Emu Oil
Emu Oil historically dates back hundreds of years. The Aboriginal people of Australia used Emu oil was used medicinally to treat muscle and joint problems (eg, painful joints, swollen muscles) and a variety of skin conditions (eg, burns, eczema). Other purported medicinal uses include psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is from the Emu bird whose lean meat is a healthy alternative protein. Limited studies in humans found that emu oil was evaluated as a lubricant and aided in reducing scar formation in healed burns. This clinical study showed that wound areas treated with emu oil healed significantly better.
Carbomers, high-molecular polymers and are used in the technology of drugs as auxiliary substances acting as emulsifiers, gel-forming substances, stabilizers of suspensions, and binders in tablets. Their properties are favored to control release as well as to improve biological availability of drugs. Although physiologically inert and non-sensitizing, they possess excellent thermal stability. They provide excellent suspending ability for insoluble ingredients, and virtually eliminate the problem of settling.
9. Aloe Vera Gel
It is a great skin moisturizer. It is the gel from a cactus like plant. It historically has been used for burns, plant reactions (poison ivy/oak), as well as its anti inflammatory properties. Aloe gel might cause changes in the skin that might help diseases like psoriasis. Aloe seems to be able to speed wound healing by improving blood circulation through the area and preventing cell death around a wound. It also appears that aloe gel has antimicrobial properties that are harmful to certain types of bacteria and fungi. Many people take pure aloe vera internally as a laxative.
10. Arnica Extract
Arnica and its extracts have been widely used in early European and Indian folk and homeopathic medicine as a treatment for acne, boils, bruises, rashes, sprains, strains, pains, and other wounds. It has been touted for its analgesic effect.
It is used as a buffering agent, and as a surfactant, in addition to its primary use as a pH adjuster. Treithanolamine is used in a variety of cosmetic and personal care products, including eyeliners, mascara, eye shadows, blushers, make-up bases and foundations, as well as in fragrances, hair care products, hair dyes, wave sets, shaving products, sunscreens, and skin care and skin cleansing products. It is used with in conjunction with fatty acids to convert acid to salt, which in turn becomes the base for a cleanser, according to OrganicConsumers.org. Additionally, it may assist in emulsion formation by reducing surface tension of the substances, enabling water and oil-soluble ingredients to mix.
12. Willow Bark Extract
The medicinal use of willow dates back 6,000 years. Ancient civilizations used willow tree extracts to treat pain, inflammation, and musculoskeletal conditions. Willow bark can be an effective pain reliever if the salicylate content is adequate. Anticancer, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activity has been documented in limited trials. Willow bark, also known as “nature’s aspirin,” contains a precursor to aspirin, which essentially provides the same benefits as the tablet.
13. Feverfew Extract
Feverfew leaves contain many different chemicals, including one called parthenolide. Parthenolide or other chemicals decrease factors in the body that might cause migraine headaches. Feverfew leaves are normally dried for use in medicine. Fresh leaves and extracts are also used. It has been successfully used by many over the years for as a medicinal plant traditionally used for the treatment of fevers, migraine headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach aches, toothaches, insect bites, and menstrual cramps used topically on the affected area.
14. Boswellia (Frankincense)
Boswellia extract has been used safely and without complications for thousands of years. The chemical structure of boswellic acids closely resemble those of steroids. It has a potential capability of helping to fight pain in addition to inflammation. Boswellia serrata extract is so powerful that today it’s considered comparable to NSAID pain relievers (the leading type of chemical anti-inflammatory medications). Boswellia serrata is a tree native to Northern Africa and the Middle East that produces special compounds that many users historically have found to have strong anti-inflammatory effects. In fact, long before inflammation-lowering medications and supplements existed, extracts derived from the boswellia tree — the same kind used to make frankincense oil — were used to treat all sorts of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and more.
